For Buffalo Bills fans hoping the team might be aggressive and look to land Stefon Diggs’ replacement in the NFL Draft, you may want to lower your expectations.

This is set up to be a very important draft for Bills general manager Brandon Beane and head coach Sean McDermott. After recovering from a rough start to the season that saw them fire their offensive coordinator, Buffalo was able to lock up an AFC East division title for a fourth straight season.

Unfortunately, for a third straight year, the Buffalo Bills campaign ended in a Divisional Round loss and another year where the team did not get anywhere close to their goal of getting back to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1993.

That is why next week’s NFL Draft is so important. The team needs to try and find players that possibly could make the type of impact in 2024 that gets them over the Divisional Round hump. However, they have a massive hole to fill after trading star receiver Stefon Diggs last week. Many assumed they might trade up and find his replacement early in next week’s NFL Draft, well, not so fast.

Could Florida State’s Keon Coleman be the Buffalo Bills’ target in Round 1?

On Thursday, ESPN NFL Draft insider Jordan reported on what he is hearing the Buffalo Bills will do at the draft and it is counter to what many expected, especially after the Diggs trade.

“Even before the Diggs trade, there has been some expectation that the Bills will be aggressive in trying to move up for a wide receiver on Day 1 — but I’m actually hearing the opposite,” Reid wrote. “The Bills might ultimately be content with letting the draft play out and addressing the position at No. 28 — or even possibly trading back.”

Reid suggested if they stand pat at 28 Florida State star Keon Coleman and South Carolina pass catcher Xavier Legette would be top targets at that point in the draft.
