Now that the Las Vegas Raiders have finally been able to introduce Klint Kubiak as their new head coach, it’s time to address the elephant in the room. The Maxx Crosby trade rumors–is this the offseason where the five-time Pro Bowler gets dealt?
Now that the Raiders have a new face who can speak to the media, Kubiak had a chance to discuss Crosby’s status with the team. To no surprise, Kubiak revealed that he wants Crosby “to be a part of our success going forward, there’s no doubt about that.”
“I got to drink a cup of coffee with Maxx this morning,” Kubiak said. “Love talking with him. And look forward to continuing those conversations. He was the first one in here working out. So that fired me up.”
What else is the new coach of the Raiders supposed to say? Anything short of fully committing to Crosby would make it seem like Las Vegas doesn’t feel like he’s an integral part of their future. Plus, telling teams that he’s available wouldn’t help Crosby’s trade value either.
Thus, just because Kubiak threw his full support behind Crosby, it doesn’t necessarily mean that Crosby’s reported feelings about wanting the Raiders to trade him have changed at all. In other words, expect teams to keep calling about trading for the five-time Pro Bowl sack artist this offseason.
