Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields has been with the team for just three seasons. But the former first-round pick is already buying into one of the longest-lived rivalries in the NFL heading into their Week 18 matchup against the Green Bay Packers in Lambeau Field.

A rivalry that has been defined by back-and-forth between the two NFC North sides now includes Fields taking a pot shot at Packers’ fans in Green Bay. It’s all sorts of awesome. It could also be seen as petty.

“Their fans are gonna be loud because there’s not much to do in Green Bay except watch football,” Justin Fields on playing in Green Bay.

Packers fans are accustomed to jokes like this. Green Bay has a population of just over 107,000. When Lambeau Field is at capacity, 81,441 fans are packed into the famed stadium.

The Green Bay Packers and their fans could very well have the last laugh here. They can clinch a playoff spot in the NFC Playoffs simply by beating Fields and the Bears at home.

Meanwhile, the young quarterback’s future in Chicago is firmly up in the air. The Bears are slated to have the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft (via Carolina). There is a good chance that general manager Ryan Poles and Co. offer to go quarterback with that selection while trading Fields.

If this is Fields’ final game as a member of the Bears in Green Bay, he’s certainly not acting like it. That’s for sure.
