One notable NFL insider believes the Carolina Panthers would be a perfect fit in a trade to land a star receiver from the Denver Broncos, and they could land him for a lower-than-expected price.

Heading into NFL Week 7, the Carolina Panthers remain the only winless team left in the 2023 NFL standings. No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young has gotten off to a rough start and many of the team’s key free-agent additions — like Miles Sanders — have not made much of an impact this season.

Nevertheless, the organization is still hopeful they can make some key changes to force an immediate turnaround and get back into the playoff chase. For the last couple of weeks, there have been rumors the team wants to get Young some more help in the passing game and acquire a starting wide receiver.

In a new column, The Athletic’s NFL insider Jeff Howe speculated on possible trades for various teams and players before the NFL trade deadline on Oct. 31. The Denver Broncos are expected to be sellers before then, and coveted Jerry Jeudy could be a good fit for the Panthers since his value has declined since the offseason.

“While the Broncos have rebuffed trade offers short of first-round picks in the past for Jeudy, time isn’t exactly on their side here, and Jeudy doesn’t have the trade value they’ve been seeking. He’s on the books for about $13 million for his fifth-year option in 2024, and the Broncos need to recalibrate the books while determining their future at quarterback.

“It just hasn’t worked out for Jeudy in Denver, whether it’s due to injuries, QB play or coaching, so he’d probably welcome a fresh start. The Panthers would hope to reinvigorate a 24-year-old who was once billed as a no-doubt NFL star.”

  • Jerry Jeudy stats (2023): 22 catches, 222 yards, 0 touchdowns, 11.1 yards per carry

Jerry Jeudy was the source of a great deal of trade rumors in the offseason, however, the Broncos held on to the 24-year-old to start the season. Unfortunately, the high value he had then has declined in a major way with him off to a slow start in 2023 and his yards per catch down over three yards this season (14.5 to 11.1).

Nevertheless, he is seen as a rising star in the sport and a change of scenery could lead to a strong turnaround in performance for the first-round pick in 2020.
