The 2026 Super Bowl is finally set, with the Seattle Seahawks vs New England Patriots game set to take place on Sunday, February 8. Each year, millions of spectators tune in for the greatest sports event ever invented.

This year, over 130 million viewers are expected, which means the NFL will be generating a ridiculous amount of revenue. It also means there will be a lot of eyeballs on this year’s Super Bowl advertisements.

Commercials are typically hated by all. But when it comes to the Super Bowl, suddenly ads are accepted, only because they’re generally more entertaining. Yet, those 30-second TV spots are prime real estate, and they don’t come cheaply.

According to Bloomberg, the 2026 Super Bowl ad cost has reached prices of $10 million for a 30-second commercial. Though, the average cost for Super Bowl LX commercials is roughly $8 million. Of course, some time windows are more sought after than others, which affects the cost of specific spots.

Back in Super Bowl 1 (1967), the going rate for a commercial was around $37,500. Now, that wouldn’t even pay a player’s salary, nor would it buy anyone a Super Bowl commercial. The cost for a commercial in a Super Bowl didn’t even reach the $1 million plateau until 1995. That number already doubled by 2000, and it’s continued to grow ever since.
