Disgraced New York Yankees fan says he was sent box of ‘poop’ after World Series moment that got him MLB ban

The boneheaded New York Yankees fan who chose to get physically involved in Game 4 of the World Series claims his life has been a mess since that moment. And it hit a new low recently with a unique gift sent to him by a mystery person.

The Yankees have some of the most dedicated and passionate fans in baseball. They chant their player’s names from the bleachers during roll calls at games. They are all over the country and show up to root on the Pinstripes on the road and have an appreciation for the club’s impressive history.

However, others take their love for the team a bit too far and place themselves into silly situations. That was the case for Connecticut Yankees fan Austin Capobianco. He was added to infamous baseball history during Game 4 of the 2025 World Series when he put his hands on Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts so he could free a ball from his glove after a catch in foul territory.

The moment was viewed by millions in October. And then by many millions more in the months since. His absolutely stupid decision eventually landed him not just a ban from all future games at Yankees stadium, but all MLB games.

However, things have gotten worse for the 38-year-old since that Fall night. In a new report from The Athletic, he revealed the hate he and his family have received in the months since. And the gross gift they were sent by a mystery person.

Capobianco has reportedly received hundreds of emails and texts from random strangers telling him “to go to hell or worse.” And he has been lambasted on social media for his infamous moment during this year’s World Series. However, The Athletic report revealed another wild show of hate from fellow fans annoyed with his October decision.

“He answered a phone call from his brother. He told him that a box had arrived at the doorstep of their parent’s house in a sleepy suburb on the shoreline of Connecticut,” the report stated. “There was no name on it. It had some weight. Wary to open it, a Google search of the return address led them to a company that specializes in sending anonymous packages filled with a particular substance.”

Capobianco revealed that the substance was “poop.” The New York Yankees fan is still connected to his parent’s address online. That is probably why the feces-sending company delivered it there. Another mystery box was also sent to his family’s food service supply and kitchen design business where he works.

The boxes took it just as far in the wrong direction as his moment in Game 4. But it also shows that some of the blowback from a silly decision at an MLB game can be just as bad as a lifetime ban.
