It seems that James Dolan, the owner of the New York Knicks and New York Rangers hired a private detective to find dirt on a New York State liquor license investigator, and he isn’t denying the reports.
As far as New York sports team owners go, James Dolan is likely to be found at the bottom of many fans’ lists. The man who owns the New York Knicks, Rangers, and Madison Square Garden has had a long history of curious decisions that have rubbed fans the wrong way. He has often come off as a mysterious figure who rarely does interviews, and tries to closely guard his reputation.

However, it seems that when you get on his bad side he is certainly not opposed to going after his enemies with full force. On Sunday, the New York Times reported that the Knicks boss hired a private detective to follow New York State Liquor Authority investigator Charles Stravalle. Obviously, the detective is looking for dirt on Stravelle to force him to drop the investigation.
Dolan’s issues with Stravalle and the liquor authority over his decision to use facial recognition technology to identify and bar individuals involved in active litigation against his companies from entering his properties — which includes Madison Square Garden, and other venues and restaurants.

Earlier this year, the New York State Attorney General wrote a letter to MSG Entertainment — which is owned by Dolan — to inform them that the policy could be violating civil rights laws, and Stravalle began to investigate the company to see if the policy was grounds for removing Madison Square Garden’s liquor license.
However, after MSG Entertainment was asked about the reported hire of a private detective, the company surprisingly did not deny it and claimed that it was “a common and lawful practice.”
It has been a good season for the two teams that James Dolan owns, with the New York Knicks and New York Rangers both having strong showings in their 2022-2023 seasons. This latest bit of odd news follows the revelation that the billionaire was using the exclusive app Raya to pursue a new love interest after separating from his wife recently.
