New York Jets reportedly make wide receiver available in NFL trade talks

The New York Jets have been linked to wide receivers in NFL free agency. That includes veteran Tyler Boyd of the Cincinnati Bengals.

For general manager Joe Douglas and Co., the idea must be to provide quarterback Aaron Rodgers more weapons at wide receiver outside of Garrett Wilson.

The pickings are really slim in this regard. Unless someone like Brandon Aiyuk of the San Francisco 49ers or Bengals star Tee Higgins is made available, the Jets are going to have a hard time finding a major upgrade.

However, they are now looking to move one of their big free agent busts from a offseason ago. According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, New York has put wide receiver Allen Lazard on the trade block.

Good luck with that. The trade market for Lazard is going to be non-existent unless the Jets actually offer up draft picks for someone to take on Lazard’s contract.

The former Green Bay Packers star is playing under a four-year, $44 million deal. Short of a restructure, any acquiring team would be on the hook for a $10 million cap hit this coming season.

Lazard, 28, recorded a mere 23 receptions for 311 yards in 14 games during his first season with the Jets. He also caught just 47% of his targets while boasting an 8.2% drop rate. It led to Jets head coach Robert Saleh benching Lazard late in the season.
