The Golden State Warriors head into the offseason with several questions to answer, but when it comes to Jordan Poole’s future with the team, it seems that the organization may have already come to a decision on that.

The 2022-2023 campaign for the Golden State Warriors ended quite differently than it did before. After winning a third title in the last six years, the team fell well short of repeating when they were bounced from this year’s NBA playoffs in the semifinals by the Los Angeles Lakers.

In general, this season was not what many expected from a defending champion with what will be the most expensive roster in NBA history. There was drama from the start and the same group that won a championship in June of 2022 looked far different in the follow-up season. It all makes for an interesting summer ahead for the Golden State Warriors.

Clearly, something has changed where they are no longer a championship team despite having championship-winning players. With the organization’s payroll expected to balloon to record levels as contract extension kicks in next season, there has been speculation the front office could look to cut payroll and come back with a more cost-effective roster next season.

Golden State Warriors currently have no intention of trading Jordan Poole this summer

One name that has been bandied about in recent weeks as a player that could hit the trade block is talented guard Jordan Poole. His numbers declined in several key areas this season, and he struggled mightily in the postseason. However, it seems the organization still has high hopes for him despite a disappointing season and getting a massive raise to $27 million in year one of his $128 million extension.

On Monday, The Athletic’s Golden State Warriors reporter Anthony Slater wrote about the situation with Poole and, as of now, the team has no intention of trading him. However, that doesn’t mean it can’t happen and maybe an offer becomes something the team can’t refuse.

Nevertheless, “Poole is not actively being shopped, there is no edict to cut salary and his side has been given no current indication that his future will be elsewhere.”

Recent reports have also indicated that the team is more likely to try one more time to win an NBA title with their current group instead of blowing it all up.
