The Baltimore Orioles are looking for a big splash during the 2025 MLB offseason. On Tuesday, Pete Alonso will meet with Baltimore during the Winter Meetings in Orlando, and have also been linked to Kyle Schwarber. However, the Orioles’ first signing could be an elite starting pitcher.

According to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman, Baltimore is interested in signing free-agent starting pitcher Ranger Suarez, and he believes an offer has been submitted. Suarez, who has an excellent track record in the postseason, has been linked to several teams throughout the offseason.

In 2025, the Philadelphia pitcher posted a 3.20 ERA and 1.22 WHIP, which were very close to his performances from the 2024 season. Suarez has been elite in the postseason, earning a 1.48 ERA in 11 games. Baltimore likely can’t find a better postseason performer than Suarez.

The 30-year-old pitcher would slot into the No. 1 spot, followed by Trevor Rogers, Kyle Bradish, and others. Suarez is an excellent left-handed pitcher, and the Orioles would benefit from going all-in with a contract. Baltimore needs pitching, and Suarez is a perfect fit.
