The Chicago Bears’ embattled brass made it clear back in Week 3 that they were ready to wash their hands of former No. 2 overall pick, quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.

Chicago benched the young signal caller in favor of Nick Foles. After seeing Foles suffer an injury of his own back in Week 10, the Bears were forced to start Trubisky Sunday night against the Green Bay Packers.

To say it didn’t go swimmingly would be an understatement. Trubisky completed 25-of-46 passes for 242 yards with three touchdowns, two interceptions and a lost fumble in the blowout 41-25 loss. Most of those numbers minus the three turnovers came after Green Bay took a 41-10 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

For the Bears, this represented their fifth consecutive defeat since starting the season with a surprising 5-1 record. It’s also a clear indication that Mitchell Trubisky will not return to Chicago in 2021.

The former North Carolina standout has taken a major step back since leading Chicago to a surprising playoff appearance back in 2018.

Mitchell Trubisky stats

It’s been a disastrous recent performance from Trubisky in Chicago. It also has the Bears in quarterback purgatory with head coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace obviously on the hot seat.

Those watching Trubisky’s performance Sunday night against the Packers took note.
