Quarterback Nick Foles was involved in a scary situation late during his team’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night. In a desperate attempt to lead the Bears to a late-game upset, Foles heaved up a pass late in the fourth quarter down by six points. Unfortunately the former Super Bowl MVP was hit on the play, leading to him getting carted off the field.

Initial indications were that Foles suffered either a leg or hip injury. The Chicago Bears have now gotten some good news on this front.

Chicago Bears news: Nick Foles did not suffer serious injury

That has to be a sigh of relief for Foles and his Bears. Sure the quarterback will undergo further evaluation, but the injury is not seen as serious.

Foles led his Bears to just 149 total yards of offense and 10 first downs in Monday night’s loss to the Vikings. This represents Chicago’s fourth consecutive defeat since starting the season with a 5-1 record.

Despite his own struggles, Foles is seen as a better option than former Bears No. 3 overall pick Mitchell Trubisky. The latter was benched earlier this season for his more veteran counterpart.

In eight games (seven starts), Foles is completing 65% of his passes for 1,852 yards with 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He’ll need to be healthy moving forward if the Bears are going to have any shot at earning a playoff spot. The good news? Chicago has a Week 11 bye before closing out the season.
