Mike Williams introduced himself to the New York Jets fanbase on Wednesday and paid a huge compliment to his new wide receiver running mate Garrett Wilson.

Last week, the Jets made a splash in the NFL free agent market when they agreed to terms on a contract with Los Angeles Chargers veteran Mike Williams. The team entered the offseason looking to get more weapons for Aaron Rodgers in 2024 and went with a more affordable option in the seven-year veteran as opposed to a rumored blockbuster trade for Davante Adams.

On Wednesday, the organization introduced Williams and fellow new addition Morgan Moses to their fanbase. When he was asked about why he chose to go to Gotham instead of signing with another team, Williams claimed the ability to play with Rodgers and Wilson played a huge role because it seemed like “a great fit.”

“I just felt like it was a great fit for me. Aaron, I want to be able to play with him. Pick his brain, and learn from him. Playing alongside Garrett kinda reminds me of Keenan [Allen] a little bit. Similar style play, great route runners and I feel like we can complement each other in that area. The running game is pretty good, defense is elite so I just feel like we have a pretty good opportunity in front of us.”

Williams formed a dangerous duo with Chargers great Keenan Allen over the last seven years and he got to see the six-time Pro Bowler up close during that time. The 31-year-old has been one of the best wide receivers in the league over the last decade and to be compared to him is a huge compliment for Wilson as he heads into his third season with Gang Green.

In 2023, Garrett Wilson posted another 1,000+ yard season despite a disastrous QB situation where he had four different players start at the position last year. Williams is returning after tearing his ACL three games into the 2023 NFL season.
