The Miami Dolphins selected wide receiver Jaylen Waddle with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, providing a huge boost for the offense and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
Waddle will reunite with Tagovailoa, putting together another iconic quarterback-receiver combo. Just one pick after the Cincinnati Bengals brought Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase back together, Miami is doing the same with Alabama’s iconic duo.
Alabama’s 5-foot-10 receiver is the best vertical threat in the 2021 NFL Draft class. Rated as the No. 7 player on our top-100 draft board, Waddle has drawn comparisons to Kansas City Chiefs star Tyreek Hill.

Waddle, a Texas native, was a four-star recruit coming out of high school. Across three seasons with the Crimson Tide, he consistently made huge plays as both a receiver and returner.
- Jaylen Waddle stats (2018-’20): 106 receptions, 1,999 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns. 733 punt return yards, 214 kickoff return yards and three return touchdowns.
Even after Tagovailoa left for the NFL, Waddle still remained an unstoppable threat. Before suffering an ankle injury, Waddle was averaging 21.1 yards per reception this past season across five games.
It will take very little time before Waddle and Tagovailoa get their timing back, connecting for huge plays. With Waddle and Will Fuller added to this receiving corps, Miami’s passing attack will look significantly better in 2021.
