We have to give New England Patriots rookie quarterback Mac Jones credit. Going up against the 4-1 Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, New England held a 21-20 lead late in the fourth quarter.

That’s when Jones made one of those rookie mistakes that could have cost his team the game. He led wide receiver Kendrick Bourne a bit too much on slant route, only to see the ball intercepted by star Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs and returned 42-yards to give Dallas the lead.

It looked like the Pats were going to drop their fourth game in six tries this season. That’s when Mac Jones flipped the script big time, tossing a 75-yard touchdown to the aforementioned Bourne with Diggs in coverage. This was absolute insanity.

It takes some amazing guts to actually throw the ball in Diggs’ direction again after he just recorded his seventh interception of the season. Apparently, Jones has himself a short memory.

As for Bourne, he atoned for the previous play in which Diggs picked off a Mac Jones ball that went off the wide receiver’s hands.

Absolutely insane stuff here from Jones, who just put his name in the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year conversation.
