Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is nearing return from an abdominal strain, perhaps as early as Friday against the Boston Celtics, ESPN reported.

James last played Nov. 2 in a 119-117 win over the Houston Rockets. In 36 minutes, he scored 30 points on 13-for-21 shooting and added 10 assists.

He is working out individually as he gears up to return.

The Lakers are 3-4 without James, who turns 37 next month. They begin a five-game road trip Wednesday against the Milwaukee Bucks.

James also missed two earlier games with an ankle sprain and has been limited to six games on the season. He’s averaging 24.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists. The points average is a career low since his rookie season in 2003-04.
