When the 2023 NFL schedule is released, teams around the league view it as an opportunity to unveil their slate of matchups for the upcoming season in entertaining ways. While there was plenty of quality content on Thursday, the 2023 Los Angeles Chargers schedule release video once again proved why they are the best.
The Dallas Cowboys delighted fans with a tie-in to Yellowstone and a feature appearance from Taylor Sheridan, the Atlanta Falcons had prominent figures on social media and the Arizona Cardinals even trolled teams. However, no social media team is better than the group in Los Angeles and the Chargers schedule release video 2023 is proof they are the Patrick Mahomes of their craft.
While the entire video itself and the use of anime is great, it’s the little easter eggs and hidden gems that put the Chargers over the top. Here are just a few of the subtle shots and elements that the Chargers included in their video.

“How to get a job” for Las Vegas Raiders fans
As highlighted by Brett Kollman, the Chargers schedule release video includes a QR code. When scanned, it takes you to a ticket page that asks if you’re a fan of the Chargers or Las Vegas Raiders. If you click on the Raiders, this is the page it takes you to.
Los Angeles Chargers troll ChiefsAholic
Fittingly, Los Angeles made sure to take some shots at its rivals. Referencing two matchups against the Kansas City Chiefs this year, the Chargers reminded everyone of CheifsAholic. He is infamously the famous Chiefs fan who traveled to nearly every game. However, he’s currently on the run from law enforcement with a $1 million bond warrant issued following a Dec. 16 arrest for allegedly robbing a credit union in Oklahoma. There’s also suspicion Xaviar Babudar has robbed other banks, all funding his trips to Chiefs’ games.
Chargers throw Dallas Cowboys’ social media team under the bus
When the Dallas Cowboys lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL Divisional Round, the Cowboys’ social media team was quick to put out a headline blaming the loss on quarterback Dak Prescott.

The team was mocked for it on social media, the idea that an NFL club’s official Twitter account would publicly put the loss on the face of its franchise. Months later, the Chargers made sure to include a reference to it in their video.
Minnesota Vikings’ U.S. Bank Stadium takes out bids, Timberwolves trolled
While U.S. Bank Stadium is one of the nicest stadiums in the NFL, it also has a terrible history with birds. A study in 2019 found that more than 100 birds are killed annually. The Chargers captured that for their Week 3 matchup announcement against the Minnesota Vikings, but they aren’t the only one taking a hit. Los Angles also trolled the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Vikings’ franchise history and the entire state with some clever banners.
Detroit Lions roasted for gambling problems
The Detroit Lions made headlines for all the wrong reasons in April. Four players were suspended for gambling, with two released from the team, and the organization and multiple staffers across several departments were also fired for violating the NFL’s gambling policy. So, the Chargers schedule release video included a disclosure offering a number to call for gambling problems and it even trolled the Lions for questionable draft selections.
Los Angeles Chargers take shots at Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers
While the Green Bay Packers traded Aaron Rodgers, they didn’t get to escape getting hit with a few jabs by the Chargers. Rodgers, who often spoke about doing his own research in appearances on the Pat McAfee Show and loved saying vague things while talking about the wonders of ayahuasca, was clearly the focal point of the to-do list on the Packers’board.
Times Square filled with easter eggs
Finally, because of their matchup later this season against the New York Jets, the Chargers used Times Square as the perfect opportunity to include countless easter eggs with the New York Knicks, Jets and so many other trolled.
