The Las Vegas Raiders’ brass is not making many friends within its own locker room during the early stages of free agency.
Star wide receiver Davante Adams seemed to express his dismay over the decision to replace Derek Carr with Jimmy Garoppolo at quarterback before quietly attempting to walk back the criticism.
As the second day of the NFL free agent tampering period played out, Vegas made a few other moves. That included trading Pro Bowl wide receiver Darren Waller to the New York Giants in exchange for a third-round pick (100th overall).
Like what we saw with Adams on Monday, a high-profile current member of the Las Vegas Raiders didn’t seem to be too happy about the Waller trade. Reigning NFL rushing champion Josh Jacobs sent a short but sweet tweet. It obviously had to do with the Waller trade.
Jacobs had the franchise tag placed on him earlier this offseason. He’ll earn just north of $10 million should the Pro Bowl running back sign the tag.
However, what we’ve seen from the Raiders thus far this offseason might have Jacobs rethinking his future in the silver and black.

It was just ahead of free agency this past January that Jacobs indicated a return to Las Vegas long-term had to make sense for him. From a financial standpoint, nothing we have seen changes the dynamics between the two sides.
As for an on-field perspective, Jacobs and the rest of his Las Vegas Raiders teammate can’t be happy about this most-recent move.
The 30-year-old Waller has been a mainstay for the organization and the Vegas community since the team relocated from Northern California. Prior to an injury plagued 2022 campaign, he averaged north of 1,000 receiving yards over the past three seasons.
With Carr and Darren Waller no longer in Sin City, the Las Vegas Raiders are going to look a lot different next season. Whether that’s a good thing remains to be seen.
