Deep into NFL free agency, the top players have already signed elsewhere, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t hidden gems waiting to be signed. The Las Vegas Raiders, having already made one blockbuster addition with the signing of Christian Wilkins and lesser additions such as Gardner Minshew, are still improving the roster.
As mentioned, there isn’t a Wilkins-level talent left on the board, but Raiders general manager Tom Telesco is busy working the deeper levels of the best free agents available. Now, he’s turning his attention back to getting coach Antonio Pierce more pieces for his defense.
According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the Las Vegas Raiders will meet with former Bills All-Pro cornerback Tre’Davious White this week. Recovering from a torn Achilles that limited him to just four games, the 29-year-old is also drawing interest from several other teams and is also set to visit with the Los Angeles Rams.
- Tre’Davious White’s stats (career): 311 tackles (12 TFL), 18 INT, 68 PD, 5 FF, 1 TD
Should he sign, White would join Jack Jones and Nate Hobbs in the Raiders’ starting lineup. Prior to missing 30 games across the past three seasons with injuries, White became known for becoming a ballhawk, intercepting multiple passes across each of his first four seasons, earning two Pro Bowl nods in the process.
If White could return to his elite level of play, the Raiders would see a big boost to their defense, buying star pass rushers Christian Wilkins and Maxx Crosby more time to pressure quarterbacks. But first, they have to close the deal when visiting with White, making sure his medicals check out after a lengthy injury history.
