The Las Vegas Raiders have started their offseason by putting together a new front office and an experienced coaching staff to support head coach Antonio Pierce. Now, Las Vegas is turning its focus to the roster amid recent NFL trade rumors involving Davante Adams.

Adams, 31, had one of the worst seasons of his career in 2023. He finished with just receiving touchdowns, his lowest total since 2019 while posting his lowest receiving yards per game (67.3) average since 2017. Between the Raiders’ issues and Adams’ desires to contend for a Super Bowl, speculation emerged of an offseason trade to land him with a contender.

  • Davante Adams stats (2023): 103 receptions, 1,144 receiving yards, 8 touchdowns

Before Super Bowl LVIII, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network confirmed recent NFL rumors that New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is trying to recruit Davante Adams away from Las. Vegas. However, the NFL insider noted that the Raiders have zero plans to even consider trade talks.

While Rodgers will push the Jets’ front office to reunite him with his All-Pro wide receiver, New York is likely to face the same opposition it did in 2023. Ahead of the NFL trade deadline, the Jets inquired about Adams’ availability and those efforts were rebuffed by Las Vegas.

Even after the Raiders’ season ended, Adams indicated he wanted to remain with the team. The veteran wide receiver, who is a leader in the locker room, also expressed public support when Las Vegas hired Luke Getsy as offensive coordinator. In the past, Adams has credited Getsy for helping him develop as a route-runner during their years together with the Green Bay Packers.

If Adams is off the table, he’ll join Packers’ running back Aaron Jones as the latest player on Rodgers’ wishlist for New York who the team won’t be able to bring in. However, the future Hall of Fame quarterback might have more success in getting the Jets to land offensive tackle David Bakhtiari this offseason.

As for the Raiders, the team is already looking into its quarterback options for 2024. Already facing uncertainty over who will be its starting quarterback and running back next season, Las Vegas isn’t going to further deplete its offense by trading Adams.
