Klay Thompson suffered torn ACL, per report

Richard Mackson-USA TODAY Sports

Golden State Warriors star guard Klay Thompson exited Thursday’s NBA Finals game with a knee injury in the third quarter.

While Thompson did go back on the court to shoot two free throws, he was in incredible pain.

Now, hours after the Toronto Raptors defeated Golden State in Game 6 to take the title, it’s being reported that Thompson suffered a torn ACL. The news comes to us via Thompson’s agent Greg Lawrence.

This is devastating in more ways than one. Thompson is set to hit free agency in just over two weeks. While he’s likely to re-sign with the Warriors, it’s not known what this means over the long term.

What we do know is that Thompson will miss a good portion of the 2019-20 NBA season. He’ll join fellow Warriors star Kevin Durant (ruptured Achilles) sidelined.

Just horrible news.
