Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors have Kevin Durant on their minds as they prepare to take on the Toronto Raptors in Game 6 of the NBA Finals.
Durant, who is out for the foreseeable future with a ruptured Achilles, had surgery on Wednesday.
Ahead of Thursday night’s game at Oracle, Thompson sent a message to his teammate in the form of a heartfelt Instagram post: “DubNation, I need you to reflect on the fact that we would not be in this position if it weren’t for this man and his sacrifices. He’s the reason there are banners hanging in the rafters of Oracle.”
Thompson also touted Durant’s impending comeback, writing, “We all know this is a minor set back for a major comeback !! Nothing can impede this mans greatness.”
This comes on the heels of Thompson’s press conference on Wednesday, when he said that Durant is “above and beyond a Splash Brother” at this point in his career.
Oracle Arena is going to be absolutely lit Thursday night. That, along with Golden State’s players clearly making Durant’s injury personal to them, should give the Warriors a big boost early in Game 6.
