NFL world reacts to Kansas City Chiefs no-good and miserable Christmas Day loss

Nothing was working for the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs during Christmas against the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders on Monday afternoon.

That included Vegas’ defense scoring two touchdowns within a seven-second span in the second quarter to take a 17-7 lead over the homestanding Chiefs.

Reigning Super Bowl and NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes was a disaster under center. He completed 27-of-44 passes for 235 yards, including a pick-six into the hands of Raiders cornerback Jack Jones.

How bad was it for the Chiefs as they fell to a mediocre 9-6 on the season? Legitimately, nothing was going right.

By virtue of this loss, Kansas City failed to clinch the AFC West. The team is two games up on the Denver Broncos with as many games remaining.

Sure, Kansas City will likely come away with the division title. But at this point, Andy Reid’s squad doesn’t look like a legit threat to come out of the AFC.

The Chiefs are seemingly behind the likes of the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins down the stretch. And in reality, it has more to do with the team’s offense than anything else. They are certainly missing the key skill-position players necessary to excel. Meanwhile, Mahomes might be playing the worst football of his career.

As for the Raiders, interim head coach Antonio Pierce has the team playing inspired football. They are now 4-2 under Pierce since the firing of Josh McDaniels and have an outside shot for a spot in the AFC Playoffs.

When a team has been as dominant as the Chiefs over the past few years, they are going to be under a miscroscope when struggling.

That was the case during Monday’s ugly 20-14 loss to the Raiders.

Former Kansas City Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill opted to troll the team during the game with a single emoji.

The entirety of Kansas City’s performance was not lost on the masses, either.
