The drama surrounding the Michigan Wolverines college football program only continues to grow. First, it was head coach Jim Harbaugh flirting with the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL, saying he wants to pursue a Super Bowl opportunity before it’s too late.
He went to interview for the pro leagues on National Signing Day. It wasn’t a good look for any current Wolverines commits or player recruits. The coach had publicly indicated, with his actions, that a job interview to coach elsewhere was more important than anything left behind at Michigan.
Ultimately, the move blew back in his face, when the Vikings decided to not even make the coach an offer, sending him back to Michigan, where he noted he wouldn’t ever pursue an NFL opportunity again. It sounded like he had been embarrassed a bit, like getting rejected on a date.
Instead, Harbaugh now will begin a season-long campaign of trying to squeeze all the toothpaste pack into the spent tube, resuming his role as head coach of a prestigious college program.
Josh Gattis leaves Michigan, leaves behind Jim Harbaugh criticism
But the most recent development at Michigan is Josh Gattis, their previous offensive coordinator leaving to take the same role with the Miami Hurricanes instead.
Instead of taking the high road, Gattis decided to take a jab at Jim Harbaugh instead in a text to some Michigan players, according to Tom VanHaaren of ESPN.
In a text to some Michigan players, Josh Gattis said, “Unfortunately the past few weeks has told a different story to me about the very little appreciation I have here from administration. In life I would never advise anyone to be where they are not wanted…”
It’s obvious how Gattis feels about his previous situation. It’s no wonder he wanted to leave. Yet it only adds to the intrigue of the college football season in 2022. It should be a fun year.
