Danielle Hunter is the top pass rusher still left in NFL free agency and it looks like the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans are two of the contenders looking to land the Minnesota Vikings superstar.

Free agency in 2024 is just a couple of days old but it has been very eventful. Quite a few big-time players were already off the board before legal tampering commenced on Monday — Baker Mayfield and Chris Jones to name a few. Then on Day 1 many more elite players agreed to new contracts, including star quarterback Kirk Cousins.

However, there is still one huge talent still available on the open market, and he is a teammate of the aforementioned Cousins. That being four-time Pro Bowler Danielle Hunter. The Vikings veteran was expected to be one of the most sought-after players in free agency due to being one of the best athletes at one of the most valuable positions on the field.

Many league experts were waiting for Hunter’s market to develop once the free agent market opened on Monday afternoon. Well, it looks like there is now some clarity on the teams vying for 29-year-old’s services.

On Tuesday, KPRC 2 Houston Texans insider Aaron Wilson reported “There’s mutual interest between Texans and Vikings Pro Bowl free agent defensive end Danielle Hunter, per league sources, but nothing imminent. Fluid situation, multiple NFL teams are intrigued.”

Furthermore, ESPN Indianapolis Colts reporter Stephen Holden revealed that the AFC South squad is also in pursuit of the player who tallied a career-best 16.5 sacks in 2023.

During an impressive eight-year run in Minnesota, Hunter posted 87.5 sacks including five seasons with double-digit sack numbers. Danielle Hunter had a career year last season as he posted career-best numbers in sacks, tackles, tackles for a loss, and QB hits. He is one of the premiere pass rushers in the league and is expected to get paid like one this offseason.
