Henry Ruggs facing more charges in fatal crash

Las Vegas Raiders NFL wide receiver Henry Ruggs III

Prosecutors in Las Vegas will file more charges against former Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs, who was involved in a crash early Tuesday that killed a 23-year-old woman, multiple outlets reported.

The 22-year-old Ruggs already is facing two felony counts of DUI and reckless driving resulting in death.

To be added are two felony charges of DUI and reckless driving, both resulting in substantial bodily harm, as well as a misdemeanor count of possession of a firearm while under the influence.

The Raiders released Ruggs Tuesday night after the first charges were filed.

The latest felony charges address the unspecified injuries sustained by Ruggs’ girlfriend, Rudy Washington, who was riding in his Chevrolet Corvette when the crash occurred early Tuesday morning. In court Wednesday, prosecutors said Ruggs was driving the Corvette at 156 mph seconds before the crash — 127 mph at the time of impact — and also had a blood-alcohol level of 0.016 percent, which is twice the legal limit.

Killed was Tina Tintor of Las Vegas, whose Toyota RAV4 burst into flames in the crash. Her dog also died.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal said records in Clark County, Nev., showed the charges had not yet been filed formally. The DUI charges carry a sentence of up to 40 years if convicted.

Ruggs is due back in court Wednesday. He posted $150,000 bail and is under house arrest. He is not allowed to drive, drink alcohol or use drugs and is subject to alcohol testing four times a day under terms of his release.

On Friday night, friends of Tintor held a candlelight vigil at the crash site near Rainbow Boulevard and Spring Valley Parkway. She recently started a new job at an insurance company after working at Target, and several of her former co-workers showed up to remember her, wearing their red Target shirts.
