The Green Bay Packers have done well since moving on from Aaron Rodgers, making back-to-back playoff appearances behind Jordan Love. Yet, the Packers have been stuck, unable to get past the Divisional Round.
One potential reason for their lack of recent postseason success could have something to do with the fact that they have no clear-cut No. 1 receiver for Love to rely on. Will that be changing this offseason?

Will the Green Bay Packers still invest heavily into WR group?

The Green Bay Packers have invested in their current receiving corps in a number of ways. But none have been more significant than drafting Christian Watson with the 34th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Watson has been productive, but he’s coming off a career-high 620-yard season, where he tore his ACL. Watson is expected to miss the start of the 2025 NFL season, which means Love will have no choice but to get used to spread the ball around to another receiver.
While the Packers have several other young options from within, what about landing an alpha receiver who commanders a heavy amount of targets?
Recently, ESPN’s Packers insider Rob Demovsky urged the Packers to still make a “significant” addition to the receiver room in Green Bay.
“Could this be the year the Packers draft a receiver in the first round? While Gutekunst said recently it’s not an organizational philosophy to avoid receivers in Round 1, they’re going on 23 years without doing so. Still, with Christian Watson (ACL) likely to miss the first half of the season, and no clear-cut, go-to WR1 emerging, it behooves the Packers to make a significant addition to the group.”

Boasting eight selections in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Packers will have several opportunities to add receivers. Whether they find one they’re willing to draft early on, such as with the 23rd overall pick in the first round, remains to be seen.
