Now, that was one heck of a game between the Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals Thursday evening in the desert.
Playing without Davante Adams, Green Bay seemingly found itself in control of the game. It was up 17-7 in the third quarter and 24-14 in the fourth quarter against a Cardinals team that entered Week 8 with a perfect 7-0 record.
That’s when thing went batty. After the Packers scored to make it a two-score game, Arizona drove down 75 yards on 11 plays in less than 4:30 minutes to bring it to within 24-21.
Even then, it looked like the Green Bay Packers would find a way to come out on top. On their very next possession of the game, Aaron Jones scored from one yard out to pretty much put the thing away.
Except, officials on hand overturned the call — setting up second and goal from the one. A few plays later, and Green Bay would turn it over on downs with 3:26 remaining in the final stanza.
If you think that’s crazy, catch a glimpse of Arizona’s final drive. Working from the shadow of his own end zone, Kyler Murray would drive the ball all the way down to the Packers’ five-yard line.
With Aaron Rodgers looking on from the sideline, Murray threw an interception into the hands of Rasul Douglas on a pass intended for future Hall of Fame wide receiver A.J. Green.
By virtue of this eye-opening 24-21 win, Green Bay has now come out on top in seven consecutive affairs while Arizona dropped its first game of the season after a seven-game winning streak.
