The Green Bay Packers got good news earlier this week when it was reported a contract restructure would solve the Aaron Rodgers situation. At least, for the short-term.

When Rodgers and the rest of his Packers teammates opening up training camp on Tuesday, rumors surfaced that they might bring back an old friend. Only one day later, it’s clear that it’s definitely happening.

Green Bay has officially fleshed out a trade with the Houston Texans to bring back Randall Cobb, and the wide receiver broke the news himself on Twitter:

Cobb, 30, starred with the Packers from 2011-18, registering 470 receptions for 5,524 yards and 41 touchdowns in the process. A second-round pick out of Kentucky back in 2011, Cobb’s best season with the Green Bay Packers came in 2014. He recorded 91 receptions for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns that season.

This information also comes on the heels of reports that Rodgers has been pushing for the Packers to reacquire Cobb. After the Houston Texans traded for fellow slot receiver Anthony Miller over the weekend, it appears that Cobb has become available in trade talks.

Last season with the Texans, Cobb recorded a mere 38 catches for 441 yards in 10 games. That came after an 828-yard performance in his only season with the Dallas Cowboys back in 2019.

As for the Green Bay Packers, they have been in the market for an upgrade at receiver behind Davante Adams, who is slated to become a free agent after the 2021 season barring a contract extension.
