Golden State Warriors rookie No. 2 pick James Wiseman has been in and out of the lineup thus far throughout the 2020-21 NBA season. COVID-related difficulties earlier in the campaign gave in to Wiseman missing extensive action with a wrist injury.
Unfortunately, the star center is now likely going to be sidelined for the remainder of the season. Shams Charania of The Athletic reported on Sunday that Wiseman suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee Saturday evening against the Houston Rockets.
While there’s no timeline for a return, it’s safe to say that Wiseman will miss the remainder of the season. Golden State has only 19 games remaining in the regular season. Its finale will come May 16 against the Memphis Grizzlies. That’s just over a month from now.
James Wiseman will now likely finish his rookie season averaging 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds on 52% shooting from the field in 39 games. He also joins another top-end rookie in LaMelo Ball in being sidelined to injury right now.

For the Warriors, this is not great news. Despite their blowout win over Houston on Saturday, this team sits at 25-28 and as the 10th seed in the Western Conference. Golden State is looking to hold off the likes of the New Orleans Pelicans and Sacramento Kings for a spot in the play-in tournament.
