Embattled head coach Doug Pederson and the Philadelphia Eagles entered Sunday’s season finale against the Washington Football Team with a 4-10-1 record and completely out of the NFL Playoff race.

Apparently, Pederson took that to heart during the game in front of empty seats in Philadelphia. The tank job was on in every possible way.

A day that started with former No. 2 pick Carson Wentz reportedly set to request a trade culminated in Doug Pederson replacing Jalen Hurts with Nate Sudfeld at quarterback. This is an actual thing that happened during an ugly 20-14 loss that helped hand the seven-win Washington Football Team “earn” the NFC East title.

By virtue of this loss, the Eagles will be selecting No. 6 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. More than anything else, that’s why Doug Pederson decided to pull the epic tank job.

Even then, it’s not a great look for the Eagles or the NFL as a whole. Sure the six-win Giants should not have been relying on Philadelphia to defeat Washington to capture the division. That’s fine. It’s poverty. With that said, the Eagles absolutely embarrassed themselves.

This comes on the heels of reports surfacing that Doug Pederson will be back with the organization after previous suggestions were that they would fire him.

One now has to wonder what’s happening behind the scenes. Regardless of the situation, players don’t want to lose in the fashion we saw from the Eagles on Sunday night. The NFL also can’t be too happy given that it hand-picked this matchup to be the final “Sunday Night Football” game of the season.
