Pittsburgh Steelers’ Diontae Johnson displays complete lack of effort as drama continues

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson got into it with teammate Minkah Fitzpatrick after last week’s brutal loss to the Cleveland Browns.

For Johnson, this was the continuation of drama he’s been involved in recently. It was during the aforementioned game that the wide receiver went after a Steelers assistant coach and had to be restrained by offensive tackle Broderick Jones before head coach Mike Tomlin pulled him aside for a spirited conversation.

Apparently, the conversation did very little heading into Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Check out this lack of effort from Johnson during a play in which teammate Jaylen Warren fumbled. It’s not a good look. It will not sit well with Tomlin once the head coach watches the tape.

You can’t even say that Johnson didn’t see the fumble. He was right there. He didn’t go after the ball and he didn’t even attempt to chase after DJ Turner. There is simply no room on a football team for a me-first player. Johnson displayed that in a big way early during what has been a close game against the Bengals on Sunday.

But that’s not even the extent of it.

Later in the first quarter, Johnson decided that it made sense to run backwards after catching a screen pass from Kenny Pickett.
