DeSean Jackson signs with the Las Vegas Raiders

Pro Bowl wide receiver DeSean Jackson is headed to the desert. Mere days after clearing waivers following his release from the Los Angeles Rams, Jackson is signing with the Las Vegas Raiders.

The initial report of said signing came via NFL insider Josina Anderson who heard it directly from the California native.

This can’t be considered too much of a surprise given the Raiders’ lack of depth at wide receiver following the release of 2020 first-round pick Henry Ruggs. Remember, the Alabama product was released after being involved in an accident that killed a young woman just off the Vegas strip last week. Ruggs was ultimately charged with a DUI resulting in death.

As for DeSean Jackson, this comes following a seven-game stint with the Rams that saw him catch eight passes for 221 yards.

The three-time Pro Bowler asked to be released or traded as he was not getting enough action on offense in Los Angeles.

Jackson, 34, has caught just 31 passes since the start of the 2019 season. From 2008-18, the speedy receiver hauled in an average of 54 catches for 933 yards. He’ll help a Raiders team that’s now 5-3 following Sunday’s ugly loss to the New York Giants.
