Buffalo Bills running back Damien Harris exits game in ambulance after suffering scary injury

Buffalo Bills Damien Harris

Buffalo Bills running back Damien Harris had to exit Sunday’s game against the New York Giants in an ambulance after a hit on a run.

Harris was loaded on to a backboard prior to being removed from the game. Obviously, the on-field scene in Western New York was not great as everything unfolded. That included the Bills’ entire team surrounding Harris as he was loaded into the ambulance.

It was this past January that fellow Bills player Damar Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Hamlin was seen on the sideline with a ton of emotion as his teammate was taken off.

The good news as it relates to Damien Harris? He was seen giving a thumbs up as he made his way to a local hospital in Buffalo. The Bills also noted that Harris had feeling in his arms and legs. That’s great to hear.

It’s obviously too early to tell how severe Harris’ injury is. He’ll undergo further tests at the hospital to gain a better understanding.

This comes after Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was also taken to a local hospital in Southern Nevada after suffering a back injury.

The NFL has protocols in place to deal with injuries of this ilk. Those protocols were put into place after Harris suffered his injury.

We’ll have further updates as they become available.
