Dalvin Cook reveals he has ‘about five’ teams interested

Dalvin Cook has rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of the past four seasons. Yet, advanced statistics suggest the four-time Pro Bowl running back’s production may be dipping. Released by the Minnesota Vikings back in June, Cook has taken just one free agency visit since.

But now interest in the 27-year-old dual-threat tailback seems to be picking up, according to the RB himself. Speaking to Dan Patrick on Friday, Cook revealed he has “Probably about five teams” interested in him so far.

Cook has one visit scheduled with the New York Jets, set to take place this weekend. Given a chance to pick where he wants to play for the first time since entering the NFL as a second-round pick back in 2017, Cook is taking his time while trying to find the perfect opportunity.

He was also asked where he’d like to play. Here’s what Cook had to say:

“It’s a good question. I’m still trying to answer right now. That’s why I’m taking this visit.”

Dalvin Cook on his playing future

Other teams who have frequently been linked to Cook throughout his free agency process include the entire AFC East. The Buffalo Bills recently saw Nyheim Hines be ruled out for the season following a freak injury, but they also have his younger brother, James, on the roster, who’s suited for a starting role.

Potentially better fits include signing with the New England Patriots, who may value Cook’s ability as a rusher/receiver as part of their current backfield stable. Even the Miami Dolphins could appeal, especially considering Cook is a Florida native, not to mention coach Mike McDaniel loves to pound the rock, using multiple tailbacks throughout the year.

For now, Cook will visit the Jets, and all signs point to there being strong interest on both sides. We’ll see if the numbers make sense.
