Dalvin Cook makes ‘frustrated’ case for New York Jets to trade him before Oct. 31 deadline

On Thursday, Dalvin Cook aired some grievances with how the New York Jets have used him this season and likely furthered the possibility he gets traded before the NFL trade deadline.

Four-time Pro Bowler Dalvin Cook was one of the big additions to the New York Jets roster for the 2023 season. The former Minnesota Vikings star was expected to be another proven veteran to play alongside future Hall-of-Famer Aaron Rodgers. However, sometimes plans don’t work out as expected.

The Jets will likely be without Rodgers after tearing his Achilles in Week 1 and Dalvin Cook has seemingly lost his role as the team’s leading running back to 2022 rookie Breece Hall. After six games he has just 39 rushing attempts, 109 yards, and is averaging 2.8 yards per rush as he continues to be fazed out of the weekly offensive game plan.

After such an impressive start to his career, it is understandable that the lack of use might be a problem for Cook. Well, on Thursday he let it be known publicly that he is not thrilled with how the Jets have used him this season.

During a media scrum today, Cook claimed he was “frustrated” with his current situation, as well as his belief that he performs better with more touches per game and that he doesn’t feel like he’s a different player following the recent shoulder injury that he had surgery to repair in February.

Reports last week claimed that the New York Jets could be active before the trade deadline early next week and that Cook could certainly be up for grabs since he has had a limited impact on the offense this season.
