As of now, Cook hasn’t taken any visits with teams and it’s believed the veteran is willing to wait several weeks until he signs. While much of the information on Cook has come from reports, the four-time Pro Bowl selection provided some insight into his process.

In an interview with KSTP-TV, Cook addressed his status as a free agent and the approach he’s taking as he considers offers from teams.

“At this moment, it’s kinda just taking my time and being patient with the process. You can’t rush this. This is a life decision. . . . I’m just taking my time and not rushing it. When I make that decision it’s going to be right for me and my family.”

No matter where he lands, Cook is likely headed for a committee role. With the Jets, he would split touches with Breece Hall in an offense that figures to be pass-heavy in 2023. The Patriots can offer Cook a more run-oriented team, but he would be the No. 2 running back next season behind Rhamondre Stevenson, a favorite of Bill Belichick.

It’s why the Dolphins have long been viewed as the team most likely to sign Cook. He would be playing in one of the best offenses in the NFL and could be the primary ball carrier with Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson Jr. and Devon Achane behind him.

For now, Cook will continue to sort through offers with the hope that the Dolphins or another team offer him a bigger role and more money. While New England is the betting favorite to land him, Miami is still viewed as the most logical destination around the league.
