Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott completed 41-of-60 passes for 403 yards with three touchdowns in Sunday’s NFL Playoff game against the Green Bay Packers.

Those numbers are completely misleading. He also threw two interceptions, including a pick-six. Dallas fell down 27-0 in the first half in what was a disastrous performance for Prescott and Co. The ‘Boys were also down 48-16 in the fourth quarter before Prescott threw two garbage-time touchdowns in front of his home crowd inside AT&T Stadium.

This latest implosion by the Cowboys clearly has head coach Mike McCarthy on the hot seat. They have not earned a trip to the NFC Championship Game since all the way back in 1996. For his part, Prescott is now 2-5 as a starter in the postseason.

After the game, the All-Pro quarterback summed up his performance with a perfect three-word quote. “I sucked tonight,” Prescott said.

The much-maligned signal caller did expand on it a bit. Prescott also defended his embattled head coach.

“He’s been amazing. I don’t know (McCarthy’s future) can be (in doubt), but I understand the business. In that case, it should be about me as well, honestly,” Prescott told reporters, via Pro Football Talk.

Everyone should share in the blame for that performance. Clearly frustrated throughout the game, owner Jerry Jones displayed that very same tone after the ugly home loss.

“This seems like the most painful [playoff loss] because we all had such great expectation and we had hope for this team,” Jones told reporters.

Accountability is not one thing that’s missing from Prescott’s game. He was singing the same tune after last season’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional Playoffs.

That’s all fine and dandy. But for Cowboys fans that have seen these playoff failures far too often over the better part of the past three decades, it’s all about actually doing your talking on the field. Prescott understands that, too.

“But it’s about winning, and it’s about winning in the playoffs and getting to the last game and winning that as well. Yeah, tough,” Prescott said.
