This is not good news for the undefeated Carolina Panthers and star running back Christian McCaffrey. Taking on the Houston Texans to open Week 3 around the NFL, McCaffrey suffered a hamstring injury.

Almost immediately after going into the medical tent to get checked out in the second quarter, the stud running back was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Coming off a two-game span that saw him lead the league with 324 total yards while averaging 5.5 yards per touch, Christian McCaffrey was seemingly set for a breakout performance.

Unfortunately, the fact that he was ruled out almost immediately after suffering the injury Thursday night can’t be seen as a great sign.

While we will reserve further analysis on the extent of the injury until updates are available, this could potentially be huge for the undefeated Panthers.

Remember, McCaffrey missed all but three games last season with both a shoulder and an ankle injury. Back in 2019, he led all NFL running backs in touches (403), total yards (2,392) and touchdowns (19).

This comes after Christian McCaffrey signed a record four-year, $64 million extension with Carolina ahead of the start of the 2020 season.

We will have further updates as they become available.
