Chicago Bulls will reportedly look to trade Zach LaVine during NBA offseason

The Chicago Bulls were unable to pull off a trade of All-Star wing Zach LaVine ahead of the February NBA trade deadline.

Primarily, LaVine’s contract coupled with a right foot injury he was dealing with impacted Chicago’s ability to make a move.

With LaVine sidelined for the season due to the aforementioned foot injury, the Bulls find themselves at 31-34 and as the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference. As of right now, they’d take part in the NBA Play-In Tournament.

It is still not a team that has a playoff feel to it. That’s magnified with one of its best players in street clothes for the remainder of the season.

The question is now obvious. Has LaVine played his final game in a Bulls uniform?

K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago reports that Chicago will look to move the 29-year-old LaVine during the summer.

This shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. LaVine has been on the block since last summer. He doesn’t seem to have a future with Chicago.

Whether any team will show real interest in the two-time All-Star remains to be seen. LaVine is currently playing under a five-year, $215.16 million contract. He’s under contract through the 2025-26 season with a player option for the 2026-27 campaign.

  • Zach LaVine stats (2023-24): 19.5 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 3.9 APG, 45% shooting, 35% 3-point

LaVine was in the midst of a down season before going down to injury. He entered the 2023-24 campaign having averaged 25.1 points on 39% shooting from distance over the previous five seasons in Chicago.

The Golden State Warriors were reportedly among the teams in on LaVine ahead of the February trade deadline.
