With Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper showing no remorse for his shocking actions during the team’s loss in Week 17, the billionaire could soon receive a suspension from the NFL.
There was so much hope for the Panthers as they entered the 2023 season. They had a bright and talented prospect leading the offense in No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young. They added a few former Pro Bowlers to help the young QB, and they still had some impact players on the defensive side of the ball. However, this season has been an absolute disaster.

Heading into the final week of the season, the Panthers own the worst record in the league and are on pace to have the franchise’s second-worst finish in team history if they fall to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Yet, owner David Tepper’s time as the owner has been a uniquely tumultuous time in the organization’s history.
Since he took over in the summer of 2018, the team has had double-digit losses in all but one season, and 2023 has been by far the worst. Furthermore, the team boss has fired three head coaches in that time, including during the last two seasons. Yet, Tepper hit a new low point last weekend.

During the Carolina Panthers’ ugly 26-0 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tepper was caught on camera throwing the contents of a glass on a Jaguars fan from the owner’s box. It was a stunning moment in what has been a highly disappointing run as an NFL boss. Yet, he has made matters worse by going radio silent since the incident.
That seems to be a problem for the NFL, as CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones explained on Tuesday.

“Talking with folks around the league the last few days, a substantial fine and potential suspension from game(s) has to be on the table for David Tepper from the NFL,” Jones wrote on X. “That there’s been no apology since — not a peep — from the team is unusual, to say the least.”
It often takes a serious offense for NFL owners to face suspensions, so for that to be possible shows how upset those around the league must be about Tepper’s petulant child moment this past weekend.
