All signs point to the Chicago Bears likely using their top pick in the 2024 NFL Draft on USC star Caleb Williams, however, it seems the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback may not be interested in starting his NFL career in Chi-Town.

While the Bears have won four of their last six and seem to be headed toward a strong finish in 2023, they are still likely to own two picks in the top 10 of next year’s draft. At the very least they are nearly guaranteed to have the top overall pick since they own the Carolina Panthers first-round selection after swapping pick in a blockbuster trade earlier this year. And Carolina is expected to finish with the worst record in the league this season.

There has been speculation for months about what Chicago would do with that selection. Most teams in that position would take the best QB prospect available, however, the Bears have a talented young signal caller on the roster already in Justin Fields. If the former first-round pick finishes the season impressively, it would certainly give the organization something to think about.

Yet, they passed on taking the top QB in last year’s draft, and doing it for a second straight season when Fields has not taken big leaps forward is probably unlikely. That is why many around the sport expect the franchise to use their first selection in April to take Trojans star Caleb Williams. A player who is universally seen as the best player at his position in the college ranks.

But that doesn’t mean the East Coast native wants to be a Bear when he makes the jump to the NFL. On Christmas Eve, a Bears fan took to X and claimed that the organization should not draft a QB and instead should get Fields some help in the form of talented Ohio State receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.

Williams was tagged on the post, and it seems the USC QB read and then liked the message. The approval could just mean that he believes Harrison and Fields would make a dynamic duo. But if he truly wanted to be the next Chicago Bears QB, liking such a message doesn’t seem to make much sense.

Williams’ father has suggested in the past that his son would not be against staying at USC for another season if he was not enamored by playing for the organization he was expected to be drafted by in the 2024 event.
