One NBA executive reportedly believes Bronny James taking his talents to the league in June’s draft is close to a sure thing and that a bunch of teams around the NBA will be hoping for that “1%” chance of a James and James team-up on their roster.

It certainly can’t be easy to be the basketball-playing son of one of the greatest NBA players to have ever lived, Lebron James. Since it was known that Bronny James had hopes to chase a basketball career many speculated on how good he could be. Then it was all intensified when his dear old dad revealed his dream was to play with his son in the NBA.

Now, the basketball world could be just a few months away from James and his baby boy being in the NBA together. Bronny James is currently a player for the USC Trojans and he can take his talents to the pro level after the college season ends in early April. However, since he is averaging just over 19 minutes, 4.9 points, and 2.9 rebounds per game it doesn’t seem as likely.

Not so fast. On Thursday Jeremy Woo of ESPN asked several NBA executives for their thoughts on Lebron James’ son and if he will enter this year’s draft despite his less-than-spectacular stats for the Trojans.

“I think everyone is preparing for him to go in the draft, and I’m dead serious — I think a lot of teams will take the stance that they’ll draft him if there’s a 1% chance LeBron will join them,” one exec said. “So, I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t enter.”

However, the consensus among the execs was that James needed to stay in college for at least another season.

“His body is physically mature. He’s a strong kid. From a physicality point of view, he’s ready, but from a skill point of view, and a shot point of view, he could use more time in the gym developing,” another exec said. “Another year at USC might put him in a position to have a more successful career than coming out now.

With March Madness set to begin next week, we should have an answer on whether Bronny James will come out this year or not in just a few weeks.
