A new report claims that there are teams beyond the Atlanta Falcons that are interested in making Bill Belichick their head coach, and one of them is an organization that does not have a head coach vacancy.

With the 2023-24 NFL season nearing an end and the offseason on the horizon, quite a few organizations are undergoing a very important process that will have huge ramifications on their futures. And that is trying to figure out who will be their head coach in 2024 and beyond.

What makes this an interesting year to be in the market for a new leader of an NFL locker room is that there are an impressive amount of big-name coaches available. Not only is Michigan Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh on the market, but also Seattle Seahawks great Pete Carroll, 2021 NFL Coach of the Year Mike Vrabel, and New England Patriots icon Bill Belichick.

Belichick is the most established coach available but it seems like it is a one-horse race for the 71-year-old’s services since the Atlanta Falcons are the only organization he has spoken with over the last couple of weeks. However, a new report claims that could soon expand.

On Sunday, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported that “multiple teams are quietly considering a potential run at Belichick. At least one currently has a head coaching vacancy. At least one currently does not.”

The Los Angeles Chargers, Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, Washington Commanders, and Carolina Panthers have jobs open. However, wondering which teams with head coaches that could pursue the six-time Super Bowl winner is far more interesting. With that in mind, here are four organizations without vacancies that could consider a Bill Belichick pursuit.

New York Giants

The New York Giants have serious drama brewing inside their coaching staff. An expose last week revealed a major schism growing between head coach Brian Daboll and his assistants that has been developing over the last two years. Belichick is a Giants alum and has always had a sweet spot for the franchise, which could make him the perfect option to save them from ongoing chaos.

New York could see the current situation as untenable and the opportunity to bring back the former defensive coordinator from some of their legendary teams as too good an opportunity to pass up. The Giants should be taken very seriously as a team that could target the NFL legend.

Chicago Bears

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus was on the hot seat for much of the 2023 season as the team did not leap forward in development despite the organization making notable trades and free-agent signings last year. While they are more of a long shot, the franchise could see Belichick as the man who can take this roster to new heights and galvanize a fan base that has grown frustrated with a team that has won more than eight games just once over the last decade.

Jacksonville Jaguars

After winning the AFC South last season, the Jacksonville Jaguars took a lateral step in year two under head coach Doug Pederson. They again finished with a record over .500 — which is still a plus for this franchise — however their 9-8 record was underwhelming considering the hopes the front office and fans had after their growth in 2022.

Like the Bears, they are a longshot but the Jaguars ownership is not against making bold moves when it comes to their head coaches, and they may see Bill Belichick as the type of name that brings prestige to the franchise and can create the long-term winning culture they have never had.

New Orleans Saints

New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen is someone else who has been feeling the heat under his seat. While the team had a better record in his second season, there is a belief he underperformed with the talent the front office assembled. Furthermore, his offense defying his orders in the final week of the season is a bad sign of the respect the locker room has for him.

The Saints have a roster that can win the NFC South and Bill Belichick could be seen as a stronger option to get that done and then see if he can work his magic come playoff time.
