The Kansas City Chiefs got into desperation mode during Super Bowl LV, and it led to a critical error by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who got intercepted by Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Antoine Winfield Jr.
Much of the credit goes to Winfield for maintaining his concentration and securing the catch off the deflection, which all but put the game out of reach for Kansas City.
Check out the replay, as it’s apparent just how great of a play Winfield made as he slid to the turf:

After falling to the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Winfield’s wait to hear his name called was worth it when he found out he was going to Tampa Bay.
It’s difficult enough for a rookie to come in and make an impact in their first year as a pro. Winfield still managed to do it even with the abbreviated, modified offseason program.
The 22-year-old is already playing the game at a high level, and his key takeaway led to a field goal from over 50 yards by Buccaneers kicker Ryan Succop.
