Aaron Rodgers out on the practice field in May? It really is a new beginning for the four-time NFL MVP and future Hall of Famer.
Officially acquired by the New York Jets from the Green Bay Packers last week, Rodgers joined his new teammates on the practice field as the Jets’ off-season program got going on Monday.
For Gang Green and its fans, the sight of Rodgers connecting with reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson had to be awesome.
Wilson will join Aaron Rodgers’ former teammate with the Packers, Allen Lazard, as the quarterback’s favorite targets in Jersey this coming fall. New York also added Mecole Hardman from the Kansas City Chiefs during NFL free agency and still boasts veteran Corey Davis.
It’s a much better wide receiver room than Rodgers had during his final season with the Packers after they traded away Davante Adams ahead of the 2022 campaign. This was one of the major storylines in Rodgers’ final season in Green Bay, a span that lasted 18 years.
As for Rodgers and his new Jets team, the future first Ballot Hall of Famer firmly believes that they can contend for a Super Bowl in 2023.
“I know it’s been a long time since we’ve been in the playoffs, even longer since we’ve been in the Super Bowl, but I promise you I’m as hungry as you guys are and I’m excited to be a part of something special this year,” Rodgers told Jets fans after intro presser last week.
Aaron Rodgers stats: 65.3% completion, 59,055 yards, 475 TD, 105 INT
Now that Jets fans have video evidence that the Rodgers trade wasn’t some type of hoax, they have to be super excited about him wearing green.
It’s been a long time coming for this downtrodden organization. That’s for sure.
