Report: Browns ‘unequivocally’ not even discussing Odell Beckham Jr. trade with Vikings

Odell Beckham Jr, trade

A report emerged on Wednesday morning that the Cleveland Browns were working on a trade to send Odell Beckham Jr. to the Minnesota Vikings. As it turns out, the Browns reportedly never even discussed trading their star wide receiver to Minnesota this offseason.

According to Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson, the Browns have unequivocally not had any discussions with the Vikings about Beckham Jr. Not only did the teams never discuss compensation, but no calls were ever made between the two teams about any potential trade. Furthermore, the Browns aren’t even shopping OBJ to any team right now.

This marks the second time this offseason that the star receiver’s name has been mentioned in trade rumors only for the speculation to be shot down. While general manager Andrew Berry issued a warning to Beckham Jr. in his introductory press conference this offseason, he also made it clear the team’s No. 1 receiver is in their future plans.

Of course, the 27-year-old had a disappointing season and is coming off a string of minor off-field issues. He  slapped an officer on the butt and handed cash to LSU players following the National Championship Game, which attracted significant scrutiny.

The Browns want to give him a fresh start with a new coaching staff, especially since he played through a sports hernia injury. Beckham Jr. will finally be healthy when the 2020 season arrives and be given a chance to prove he is still one of the best at his position.
