The Washington Redskins seem to realize that holdout Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams really has no desire to play for them ever again.
They reportedly are taking trade calls, per Jeff Howe of The Athletic, who reports “There’s a feeling around the league the Patriots would be involved due to depth issues at the position.”
Williams, according to multiple reports from NFL insiders, is determined to never play for the Redskins again. He’s upset about the way the team’s training staff responded to a medical scare that ultimately resulted in multiple procedures on his scalp.
Williams also reportedly wants a raise. So, there are multiple issues Washington is dealing with as Williams remains away from the team this summer.
Trading Williams seems to be the only realistic solution. While the Patriots could certainly use his help after letting Trent Brown leave in free agency, there are other teams like the Houston Texans that should go hard after him, if he’s healthy enough to get on the practice field.
