Trent Williams not holding out for money; wants to be traded or released, per report

Trent Williams

Washington Redskins Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams has been staying away from his team during the 2019 offseason, but it has nothing to do with money.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports is reporting that Williams has told teammates he’s demanding a trade or release due to the team’s handling of his recent medical situation.

This is quite a twist.

Previously, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported Williams was holding out of mandatory minicamp because he was looking for a new contract.

The medical situation La Canfora referenced is a growth or tumor that was discovered on Williams’ head. Described as a “medical scare,” the growth was found not to be malignant, and Williams should be fine going forward.

A seven-time Pro Bowler, Williams is one of the premier left tackles in the NFL today.
