Mike Krzyzewski expects Zion Williamson back for ACC Tournament

Duke Blue Devils fab freshman Zion Williamson missed his fourth consecutive game Tuesday night against Wake Forest after suffering a knee injury last month against North Carolina.

While Duke was able to narrowly escape Wake Forest at Cameron Indoor Stadium, questions about Williamson’s short-term future continue to be raised.

According to Blue Devils head coach Mike Krzyzewski, the expectation is that Williamson will be able to return in time for the ACC Tournament.

“He’s getting more confidence, and we just have to get him in shape,” Krzyzewski said Tuesday night, via ESPN. “I don’t think he’ll be ready for (UNC), but I would be surprised if he wasn’t ready by the ACC tournament.”

Duke is 3-1 in the four games that the likely National Player of the Year has missed. two of those wins have come by a combined 11 points against unranked opponents.

Talk has surrounded the possibility that Williamson should shut it down for the remainder of the season and prepare for the 2019 NBA Draft. Though, that doesn’t appear to be in the cards.
